Friends of the Earth kicked off the Save the Whale campaign in 1972 and soon picked up global press coverage with a gloriously imaginative whale product boycott \u2013 a giant inflatable whale installed outside the International Whaling Commision. A decade later, a moratorium on commercial whaling was agreed. It was a huge victory for our majestic sea-dwelling friends. This design is inspired by a picture of headliner David Bowie as alter-ego Ziggy Stardust sitting astride a giant whaling harpoon.
